1743 George II Full Silver Crown. Old
head, roses in angles. A superb, very good grade example of
this rare coin. Full crowns were unpopular coins as they were
heavy in the pocket or purse. Many were recalled and melted
down during the later silver shortages. Strange that 50 years
later the “Cartwheel” twopence was introduced
which was equally heavy but a much lower denomination! |
