Cartagena, 8 reales, (1655)S, very rare, Plate Coin in The Practical Book of Cobs (3rd edition, 1995), from the Maravillas, sunk in 1656 off Grand Bahama Island, with certificate, the pillars side (where the date would be) practically worn away but the shield side remarkably clear, with full VIII denomination to left and bold full •C•S• mintmark-assayer to right, nicely darkly toned, first specimen I have seen for sale in a while, unique pedigree. |
